We mistakenly believe being financially savvy and being spiritual aren’t compatible… As if being on a spiritual path comes with the obligation of a scarcity mindset. We’re not monks from the Middle Ages having made a vow of poverty here! Let’s take our place in this new world.

I have been a student of cryptocurrency since about 2020 (like a lot of people), and I have been working in Natural health and Energy Medicine for 18 years, plus as a digital marketer for the last 12 years.
This is my attempt at exploring the importance of spirituality in Web3.

Why Web3

Web 1 and 2 have brought us many amazing things. It has connected us with people all over the world, given us access to information that was previously unimaginable, and allowed us to share our thoughts and ideas with others in ways that were once impossible. But there is a downside to this connectedness. We are constantly bombarded with information, it can be difficult to find the time and space to reflect on our own lives and what is truly important to us, not to mention the level of censorship and piracy.

This is where web3 becomes interesting. Decentralization, privacy, and security. With web3, we will have the ability to connect with each other in ways that are more private and secure, and we will be able to access information that is not controlled by a central authority.  Most importantly, web3 can help us to create a more integrative world, where we can all work together fairly and equally.

Convergence vs Competition

We are entering a new era of human evolution. This new era is characterized by the connection between technology, economics, and I believe, spirituality.

In the past, these three areas have been separate and distinct. However, the rise of the decentralized movement is causing them to converge. This convergence is creating a new paradigm that is based on cooperation, rather than competition. At the same time, the rise of the decentralized movement is also causing a spiritual awakening as people are realizing that we are all connected. We are realizing that we are all part of the same ecosystem.

With Web3 and decentralization, we can now exchange with our community, where everyone can provide a resource and be rewarded for it.

NFTs can be assets in a spiritual community too. They can be used as tokens to pay back to the community that provides the resources.

Members can now be rewarded for educating themselves, voting, providing resources, all on an equal stand. Not just a few people making decisions for all.

So that anyone can own their content. So that it’s diverse and not run by the same handful of elite. My point is that true democratization probably has to go through a decentralized paradigm… Me thinks…

Same Capitalist Sh%* or Different Strokes?

As this takes a consciousness and mindset shift, I believe this is why spirituality as a general term, is one of the keys to the development of Web3. Call it awakening, mindset shift, consciousness, or spirituality, whatever works.

Of course, if capitalism stays our primary means of wealth distribution as a mindset, the same few elite will continue to rule how we earn, spend, feel, live… It seems to me there is something inherently corrupt about this system.

When things are collectively owned, and decided upon, then maybe Web3 can even change the world on a spiritual, societal, and political level as well as on an economical and technological level.

What are you going to do today to develop more spiritually conscious communities?
What can be the format/structure?
How do we shift from the affiliate marketing system of institutionalized poverty to empowering contributing communities and be rewarded for that?
These are but a few questions as I keep researching this subject.

The web3 movement is all about connection. We are spiritual beings, and we are all connected.

“Web3 is all about inclusivity and putting users first. The metaverse is a new world where creation is put in your hands. NFTs are how we’re going to do it.” – Iman Bashir – Forbes.com

Definitions

Spirituality according to Wikipedia: “Modern usages tend to refer to a subjective experience of a sacred dimension and the “deepest values and meanings by which people live”, often in a context separate from organized religious institutions.”

Taking Charge of your Well-Being explains more concisely that “In general, it includes a sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves, and it typically involves a search for meaning in life.”

Web3 according to LifeWire.com: “At a very basic level, Web3 is the third stage of internet development where individuals will have more control over the web.
To understand exactly what Web3 is, you need to have a basic understanding of the first two stages.
The first stage of the internet, Web1, mostly involved users reading static webpages, although forums and message boards did exist.
The next stage, Web2, marked the arrival of social media like Facebook and Twitter, and sites based around user-generated content like YouTube.
